Isaiah 40:10-11
See, the Lord God comes with might,
and his arm rules for him;
his reward is with him,
and his recompense before him.
He will feed his flock like a shepherd;
he will gather the lambs in his arms,
and carry them in his bosom,
and gently lead the mother sheep.

Reflection by Lynne Buell

The time I spend preparing a devotion always provides me with a period of tranquility.  This morning I truly needed these moments because we are in the midst of Advent.  (sigh)

Right now, I’m calm.  After reading these lovely words and some of the commentaries on the internet, I feel relaxed and composed.  I am focused on the true meaning of Christmas.  I’m reminded of God’s love for us.  I have the assurance of guidance from the Holy Spirit.  The promise of hope, peace, love and joy while we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Gracious God, help me to continue feeling tranquility and serenity during this busy time, and to never lose faith in your love for us.  Amen.
