Psalm 98:1-6

Sing a new song to the Lord, for he has done wonderful deeds.
His right hand has won a mighty victory; his holy arm has
shown his saving power!

The Lord has announced his victory and has revealed his
righteousness to every nation!

He has remembered his promise to love and be faithful to Israel.
The ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.
Shout to the Lord, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy!
Sing your praise to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and melodious song,
with trumpets and the sound of the ram’s horn.
Make a joyful symphony before the Lord, the King!
Devotion by Chris Shiver

God is always worthy of praise, though I suspect this Hebrew psalm was written at a time when God had performed some mighty saving act.  We know from the Old Testament that the Hebrews tended to whine & complain when in need & save praise for times when they were lifted up, and I know I have the same human tendencies.  The key for me is when I am in a down time of mourning or illness or financial want or faltering faith, or just feeling pitiful to remember the miracles and blessings and comforting words from God that I have witnessed and received, and remember that God is still speaking and working.

My Prayer:

Jesus, I pray that praise for you will always be on my lips, heart and mind, no matter my circumstances.  Amen.
